EMP007. TANG. OMINOUS. 12".
The title track "Ominous" first appeared on the 2002 DEMF compilation CD from Generator Records, Detroit. Because of time constraints, an edited (shortened) version was submitted and released for the compilation. 5 years later, Emphasis Recordings is proud to present "Ominous" in it's first proper, full 12" vinyl release. Here you get the original 9 min. version, plus a remix by Arne Weinberg of AW Recordings, Germany.
"Translucence", a tech-house number with classic Detroit influence in it's deep bass and string stabs. Last on the agenda is "Early Sines", with it's sparse 808 drums as a backdrop to, reverberating basslines. A bell sound tops it off, sending the listener off into a hypnotic state!

EMP006. OBSOLETE MUSIC TECHNOLOGY. MY NEUROSIS. 12".
An updated approach on classic Chicago house by OBSOLETE MUSIC TECHNOLOGY featuring a remix by JAMAL M. of Mathematics Recordings.
707 kick drums, infectious basslines, acidic overtones and jackin' beats characterizes this release with a 'Ron Hardy' style rework by Jamal Moss.
EMP005. INTRINSIC. DREAM EXPRESS. 12".
Emphasis introduces a 2 track debut from Chicago native, Parrish Adams. A dubbed out groover with dream-like synthesis that takes you on a musical journey.
"Dream Express" and "Tachyon" are two dubbed out minimal soundscapes. One with sparse bass licks and strings awash in deep dream-like reverb and deley effects. The other with percussive beats similar to "Percussion Electrique" by Dwarf but with bass kicks and synth stabs which give the track a fuller sound.

EMP004. TANG. MACHINE ORIENTED. 12".
Fourth EP by producer Steven Tang. He returns to the musical landscape with 3 acidic stunners with lush strings, dark moody funk and bumpin' basslines.

EMP003. TANG. NIGHTFALL EP. 12".
The single that never fully received a proper introduction, nor distribution (very few copies have gotten out), the "Nightfall EP" further demonstrates Tang's exploration of Chicago house with a dash of Detroit techno sensibility. Pressed on clear vinyl.

EMP002. MISGUIDED. TRAVELING DOWN A DIFFERENT AVENUE EP. 12".
Experimenting with darker tones, this EP shows another facet of Tang's production skills with edgier effects, atmospheric chord progressions, rhythmic delays, and a minimal techish viola sound.

EMP001. TANG. WINDY CITY EP. 12".
Debut release, focusing on melody and style reminiscent of classic Chicago/Detroit vibes yet still contemporary with jazzy chords and airy strings.
